Add to Notes is a Chrome extension. Select text on any web page, right-click and choose Add to my notes (or press Alt+N). The text is added to a Google Doc in your own Google account, together with the page it came from and a short, plain-language explanation written by the AI provider you choose.

Simple explanation: Plants use sunlight to make their own food. They capture light and use it to build sugar, which gives them energy to grow.

Features

Works on any website, including YouTube, where the saved link jumps back to the exact second you were watching.
Keeps formatting: bold, italics, links, and bullet or numbered lists come through as they were.
Your choice of AI: Claude, OpenAI, Gemini or OpenRouter, using your own API key, with an optional fallback to a second provider.
Multiple documents: keep separate documents (for example "Work" and "Study") and switch with one click.
Never loses a note: if you're offline or the AI is unavailable, the note is saved and completed automatically later.
Undo the last note and see your recent notes from the toolbar.

How to use it

Install the extension, open its Settings, connect your Google account and create a notes document.
Optional: choose an AI provider and paste your own API key (a separate key with a spending limit is recommended).
On any page, select text, then right-click Add to my notes or press Alt+N.

Privacy in one paragraph

Add to Notes has no servers of its own. Your notes go straight from your browser to your own Google Doc and, if you use AI explanations, to the AI provider you chose. Your API keys and settings stay on your device. The extension can only access the documents it created for you, never the rest of your Google Drive, and it reads a page only at the moment you save from it. No tracking, no analytics, no ads. "Proceed with caution" when installing?

New extensions from new developers may show a "not trusted by Enhanced Safe Browsing" notice during their first few months. Add to Notes has no servers: your notes go only to your own Google Doc and your chosen AI provider, and it can only access documents it creates.
